The Arts News

Wow! What a wonderfully busy term it has been for the Arts. Week 6 saw students in years 3-6 have excursions to the theatre.

Year 3 and Year 4 travelled to Emmanuel College on the Gold Coast to watch their junior musical production of Mary Poppins. It was a brilliant show that has had staff and students alike singing ‘just a spoonful of sugar’ and ‘Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious’ for days afterwards. Our sincere thanks to the staff and students of Emmanuel College for inviting us into your school to enjoy this wonderful experience.

Year 5 and Year 6 students travelled to QPAC in South Bank to watch a musical production of Beauty and the Beast. The students thought they had the best seats in the house and came back full of enthusiasm about the sets, the costumes, the quick changes and the action-packed scenes. Many students said they were very moved by the show when Chip became a real boy again, or when Belle and the Beast fell in love.

Year 2 had some actors visit them at school in week 7 to lead them in a drama workshop relating to the story of The Peasant Prince. Students participated in a number of drama games that will help them develop their understanding of the story. In Week 8, the Year 2 students will be travelling to the Logan Entertainment Centre to watch a production of The Peasant Prince. They can’t wait for their turn to go to the theatre!
