Harmony Day 21st Marchhttp://www.stpaulswoodridge.qld.edu.au/latest-news/Pages/Harmony-Day-21st-March.aspxHarmony Day 21st March
Harmony Day is Wednesday the 21st March and we will be celebrating as a school on this day. The theme as always is Everyone Belongs. This year for Harmony Day we will be setting up stalls with traditional costumes from all around the world, for the children to try on. We understand there are cultural sensitivities to be aware of and we will address these with the different groups before the day. If you are interested in setting up a stall from your culture, please contact Jon in the Community Centre.

Quality Teaching & Learninghttp://www.stpaulswoodridge.qld.edu.au/latest-news/Pages/Quality-Teaching-&-Learning.aspxQuality Teaching & Learning
At St Paul’s School we continually strive to create rich and authentic learning experiences for all our students. Our staff is dedicated to giving students the very best start in their learning. To maximize the impact of the learning taking place at school we ask parents to engage in the learning that is happening. This isn’t just about showing up for the athletics carnival, (which has other positive effects on our school) this is about participating in learning activities at home with your child. International research has shown that parental engagement (of various kinds) has a positive impact on many indicators of student achievement, including:

Higher grades and test scores

Enrolment in higher level programs and advanced classes,

Higher successful completion of classes,

Lower drop-out rates,

Higher graduation rates, and

A greater likelihood on commencing postsecondary education

What can you do?

Talk to your son or daughter and encourage them to talk. Engage with them in role play activities, play dollies with them, play cars, dress ups. Play games with them that will get them talking!

Don’t forget your first language and encourage your son and or daughter to speak in English and your first Language. Talk all the time!

Read, read, read, read, read….read to them, have them identify signs on the side of the road. Reading and exploring books is a powerful way to connect with your kids and to engage in their learning.
