Last Friday evening Pope Benedict announced that Mary MacKillop

November 23, 2009: St Paul’s School Choir on ABC Radio and Parliament House
We had a wonderful experience on Monday with our school choir, led by Mr Ash Cawse.
First of all, we were interviewed on ABC radio – you can listen by using the website below. The children sang beautifully. We then went to the Queensland Parliamentary Annexe in the city where
the children sang Christmas Carols to launch The Speaker’s Christmas Tree Appeal and then light up the
large Christmas Tree outside Parliament House. Yesterday, in Parliament, our school and the children
were thanked by The Speaker, Mr John Mickel. The children were dressed beautifully and sang like
Angels!! It was a great experience, made more special with our parents and families who were able to
attend as well and those who couldn’t, wishing us well and there to greet us on our return. Thank you.

school has been selected as an example of how schools offer exemplary educational experiences. In particular
we will be showing them how well our school develops community – that families and children
have a strong sense of belonging within our school. With this comes a sense of safety, security, resilience,
confidence, an ability to take risks, learn from mistakes and build capacity to be successful learners and
contribute positively to community and society.

National NAIDOC Award - Congratulations Uncle Reg Knox
We are delighted to hear and congratulate Uncle Reg Knox on receiving a 2009 NAIDOC week award – Aboriginal Elder of the Year. This is in recognition of Uncle Reg’s wonderful and lifelong community work – especially in promoting and enhancing educational and vocational opportunities for young people from indigenous backgrounds. Uncle Reg and his daughter, Missy, spent time in many schools throughout Queensland promoting pride and respect in our indigenous cultures and our Australian identity. Our mural painting on our tuckshop was part of one these experiences. Missy’s daughter, Georgia, is now a student here in Prep C. We congratulate Uncle Reg and celebrate with his family, this wonderful and much deserved recognition.
We will be welcoming elders Uncle Reg and Uncle Gene who will be visiting our Senior Primary classes this Friday morning.

pleased and proud of this great achievement.
Our instrumental music students entertained a small but delighted audience last Friday afternoon. We
especially congratulate Michael Miranty (violin), Michael Naufahu (guitar), and Jak Davis (guitar) for
special awards received.

June 3, 2009: Football News
Well done to all our footballers
who had their last game for the
season against Slacks Creek.
Unfortunately we could not
manage a win but what a wonderful performance.
As was evident all season long our players
tackled fiercely and showed terrific skills
with the ball. I would like to thank all the
players who made the season another wonderful
success. Thankyou also to Mr Blinkhoff
and Mr Rigby for assisting me with coaching .
I also appreciate and thank all the parents
who supported and transported our players
throughout the season. Without the efforts of
all the people mentioned above Rugby league
at St Paul's would not be possible.
