Monday, 8 August is our Ekka Show Holiday but more importantly, the Feast Day
and 115th anniversary of the death of Australia’s first saint, St Mary MacKillop.
Mary
spent her life reaching out in love and compassion to those in need. She founded the
Sisters of St Joseph to care for those most in need. Mary respected the dignity of
each person, lived with humility, acted with simplicity and embraced each individual
with love.
Mary lived by the motto: 'Never see a need without doing something
about it' as well as ‘Find happiness in making others happy’. Her story continues to
inspire people to reach out to others in service.
